Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira has revealed that he has an ambition to play for Boca Juniors before he retires.
The Uruguayan has said he has dreamed about playing for the Argentian club since he was young, revealing that he travelled to Madrid to watch them play in the Copa Libertadores final against River Plate:
“My family and the people around me know that at some point I would like to wear Boca’s shirt because it is a dream I have had since I was very young.”
“I was with several friends in the final in Madrid, I did not think I would suffer so much, but I experienced it with a lot of nervousness, it was not like we all wanted, and reaching the final doesn’t get you anything.”
Of course, Torreira is very much committed to the Gunners for the foreseeable future after an excellent first season at the London club following his summer move from Sampdoria.
The 23-year-old has made 49 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal this campaign, scoring two goals and contributing five assists.
He will be hoping to play his 50th game of the season when the Gunners face Chelsea in the Europa League Final on May 29th.
Torreira missed the final game of the Premier League season against Burnley last weekend, but the Uruguayan international is expected to be fit for the final in Baku, along with the likes of Mesut Ozil and Sokratis Papastathopoulos.
