Torreira Expects Toe-To-Toe Battle With United And Chelsea For Champions League Spot

Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira says the Gunners are ready to go toe-to-toe with Chelsea and Manchester United for a top-four finish.

The weekend defeat to Manchester City has meant that the London club have slipped down behind United into sixth place.

Torreira is aware it will be a tough battle to secure a Champions League spot, but he believes Arsenal would be deserving of the position based on their performances this season:

“We know it’s not going to be easy, that’s for sure because we are up against some great teams such as Chelsea and Manchester United but we need to try and stand firm as a team and as a group and battle in every game.”

“The squad is focused on qualifying for the Champions League because a big club like Arsenal deserves to be playing in that competition.”

The Gunners may be able to capitalise on a slip up from Chelsea this weekend when Maurizio Sarri’s side head to the Etihad to face City.

In contrast, Arsenal should be able to secure three points against a struggling Huddersfield side who have lost 11 of their last 12 league games.

Unai Emery’s men won’t be expecting United to drop points in their next encounter, though, with the Red Devils travelling to Craven Cottage to face Fulham who remain deep in relegation trouble.
