“Took A Real Big Whack…” Charlies Watts Raises Major Injury Concern About Arsenal Talisman

Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard may have been carrying an injury during the 1-0 defeat to Everton at the weekend, according to Goal journalist Charles Watts.

The Norwegian international picked up a knock in the first half and Watts claims it may have affected his performance for the rest of the match:

“Odegaard, I thought was poor, took a real big whack in the first half, he was limping, clearly wasn’t happy. I don’t know if he was playing with an injury after that, but he just wasn’t on it today. He’s been so good for so long now, but this was a disappointing performance from him.”

Watts does seem to be speculating slightly about Odegaard’s condition. There was no mention of any injury after the match, even though he did get substituted 15 minutes before full-time at Goodison Park.

The 24-year-old very rarely misses games due to fitness problems. Since arriving in London just over two years ago, he has been sidelined for just four matches, which was an ankle injury he sustained in April 2021.

Odegaard was everpresent last campaign, and he has been available for every fixture this season as well, so it will be hoped that he hasn’t suffered any ill effects from the loss on Saturday.
