Three youth products that could break into the Arsenal first team this season

Arsenal are well known for their development of young players and that is largely down to manager Arsene Wenger. Players such as Cesc Fabregas, Robin van Persie and Jack Wilshere have come through to the first team from young ages under the Frenchman’s guidance and for any young player, being nurtured at Arsenal would be excellent for their development as demonstrated on many occasions.

Now Arsenal are in the Europa league, it will see a lot more rotation around the squad which will see even more opportunities for the fringe players to break into the first choice XI. Wenger describes giving young players the opportunity to perform as “part of the DNA of the club.”

Here are three young guns that could break into the first team set up this season.

Jeff Reine-Adelaide

The young Frenchman has been a part of the Arsenal youth team since signing from Lens in 2015, the 19-year-old has made a number of senior appearances for the first team but nothing more than a few cameo performances. He has a very strong chance of breaking into the first team this season, he is athletic, physically ready and has an eye for a key pass which are some of the ingredients that make up a great player.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles

The 19-year-old has been at Arsenal since the age of six, he made his professional debut for the Gunners in 2014, a 3-0 away win in the Champions League against Galatasaray which meant he was the second youngest player to represent the North Londoners in the CL, only beaten by Wilshere. A season on loan to Ipswich town followed, then a return to the Emirates where it saw the player on the fringes again. He can play midfield, right wing or right-back. He was also part of the England under 20’s summer World cup win in which he was a second half substitute.

Reiss Nelson

Reiss is 17, an attacking midfielder, most comfortable playing in behind the striker as a number 10. Arsene Wenger rates the player very highly and has already hinted towards his opportunities in the first team next season. As a 17-year-old, the Englishman has an even more difficult job than his peers who have slightly more experience than him. Despite this, Nelson could be big part in the Europa League group stages as well as the league cup which Arsene Wenger always plays an experimental team.
