The German international is almost certain to leave the Emirates at the end of his contract next year. No matter what you say about the midfielder, he has been an important creative presence in Arsenal’s team for a number of years.
With that in mind, a replacement will be required, and rather than bringing in a young player who will need time to develop, signing Coutinho will mean the Gunners will be getting someone who can slot in straight away and perform.
