Three Ligue 1 players Arsenal should sign this summer

The French first division offers plenty of talent, with players such as Eden Hazard, N’Golo Kante and Hugo Lloris have made the trip across the across the English Channel in recent times and are now three of the world’s best players.

Monaco did very well last season which has attracted plenty of interest in their players from all the top European sides and it is essential that Arsenal are part of that elite list. As well as Monaco, Ligue 1 offers plenty of talent at reasonable prices and that could improve the Gunners ahead of the new season.

Arsenal have also enjoyed relative success when exploiting the French market, with Olivier Giroud and Laurent Koscielny arriving from France in recent years, the Gunners should take a look at Ligue 1 again in this summer.

Here are my picks out three Ligue 1 players Arsenal should target in January.

Alexandre Lacazette

Arsenal fans will be sick of the sight of this man after being continuously linked with the Gunners for the past two summers.

The Lyon-based striker has been on the up but, after missing out on Euro 2016, Lacazette will feel he has to move on to a bigger club to break into the national set up.

Arsenal are still in need for a natural top-class striker despite having the likes of Giroud, Danny Welbeck and Alexis Sanchez. Gooners are demanding a different calibre of striker at their club to complement Sanchez.

Kylian MBappe

The 18-year-old has been linked to the Gunners with a reported £87m bid being rejected by his current club Monaco. Mbappe enjoyed a stunning season helping the Ligue 1 side to the title and a semi-final appearance in the Champions League, as well as that winning young player of the year in France.

It would be an expensive acquisition but an incredible one as the forward looks destined for great things.

Thomas Lemar

The left forward would be a great addition to the Gunners as the need for a left winger had became more and more apparent through last season, Alexis Sanchez was moved to the centre-forward role so left the young Alex Iwobi to take over there but did not look up to the required standard.

Lemar contributed to 31 goals last season with Monaco (17 assists, 14 goals). The Frenchman would come with a much more affordable price tag in comparison to his team mate Mbappe which Arsene Wenger will be very interested in paying.
