Former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere took to social media at the weekend to suggest he could be the answer to the Gunners’ problems in the final third of the pitch.
Replying to a tweet by fan Piers Morgan, who was bemoaning the club’s lack of creativity, Wilshere used emojis to raise his hand, indicating he would be ready to come back if Arsenal needed any help:

The former England international is currently available on a free transfer after leaving West Ham last month and could be snapped up outside of a transfer window. However, fans on Twitter think recruiting the 28-year-old would be a step backwards:

If he was for a free, Arsenal still would be robbed.

Enough with being emotional guys. Our team is suffering. We have to be real about choosing players.

There was a reason why Wilshere was let go by the Hammers. He had struggled with injuries for the first two years at the London Stadium and he was no longer relied upon to be a first-team regular. It would be a sentimental decision if manager Mikel Arteta decided to bring him back to the Emirates.
