Thierry Henry Claims Arsenal Ace Is “Coming” To Take Real Madrid’s Star’s Crown Despite Chelsea Masterclass

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry says Gabriel Martinelli has the potential to become the best left winger in the world.

The Frenchman was assessing the performance of Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jnr against Chelsea on Wednesday night as he gave Blues pair Reece James and Wesley Fofana the runaround. He was asked whether the Brazilian would make his world XI when he replied:

“At the moment, yes. You have guys that are doing okay at Arsenal in the Premier League. Martinelli is coming. But in the last two years, Vinicius Jr has been solid.”

Martinelli has had an outstanding season for the Gunners, having scored 14 goals and provided four assists in 30 Premier League appearances.

However, even the most ardent Arsenal supporter would have to admit that he isn’t quite at Vinicius’s level yet. The 22-year-old has bagged 21 goals in all competitions this campaign, having laid on another 16 assists as well.

While Martinelli may only be a year younger than his Brazilian international teammate, it will be interesting to see whether the Arsenal star does have a higher ceiling and becomes the better player in the future.
