“They’ll Miss His Presence…” Merson Claims Arsenal Will Win Emirates Clash After United Are Dealt Major Blow

Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson believes the absence of Casemiro could hand Arsenal victory against Manchester United this evening.

The Brazilian international is suspended for the game at the Emirates after picking up a booking versus Crystal Palace midweek and Merson claims the fact that the midfielder is unavailable could swing things in the Gunners’ favour:

“Casemiro is a big player, and United would’ve had just as much of a chance as Arsenal if he was available. He brings experience to the midfield and would’ve been on Martin Odegaard. They’ll miss his presence in this match. With Casemiro suspended for this match, I’m backing Arsenal to win this game.”

You would back Mikel Arteta’s side to dominate the midfield with Casemiro not on the pitch. In the reverse fixture at Old Trafford (when the former Real Madrid player was only a substitute), Arsenal had 61% of the ball and that was without having Thomas Partey in the starting eleven.

With the Ghanaian international fit this time around, he could prove to be a decisive figure in ensuring the home side have the majority of possession once again. His job will be made a lot easier without the disruptive presence of Casemiro to contend with tonight.
