The Point That Settles It

The Point That Settles It

There are 6 games left for Arsenal to play and even though mathematically, the title is not lost, all signs point towards the fact that this season is already one to be forgotten by the Gunners. Leicester are 13 points in front and despite still having to face West Ham, Manchester United, Everton and Chelsea of their 6 remaining games, it`s very hard to believe they will not get at least a couple of wins out of these 6 confrontations. But enough about the soon to be Premier League champions.

Focusing on Arsenal’s game against West Ham, we could say that it is a good reflection of this entire season. They start out badly with a loss, bounce back and impress, then struggle towards the end and get a somewhat satisfying result. Even though bad luck also played an important part in the Londoners’ loss (Carroll managed to score almost half of his season goals on Saturday), the pattern is there and has been there for several seasons not just one. Wenger’s boys are not ready for a marathon. They are brilliant when it comes to sprints but fall short when it`s all about consistency and focus. The biggest reason behind all of this was bluntly explained by Sanchez a couple of days back when the Chilean told the press he has dropped in form due to fear of injury.

There’s not much left of this season and Arsenal are almost out of the race. Sure, there have been miracles but that would imply having a full squad fighting to their last breath and relying on some Leicester slip ups. That`s not the case at Emirates where except for Iwobi and maybe Elneny and Bellerin, all others are sort of giving up.

Let`s take what is good out of this match though. Alex Iwobi provided two excellent assists, the first ever in his Arsenal career. He proved he is versatile and he also proved to be a solid option for next season. If proper care is given to players like him and if the right attitude is reflected onto him starting his early days, he could end up a massive player. It`s the same with Bellerin who is already one of the players to watch. Here’s how Arsenal’s other players performed in the 3 – 3 draw that most likely settled the Gunners’ position in the 2015/2016 Premier League Season:
