The Drought Is Over – Arsenal Win The FA Cup In Classic Style!

Well in one of the best FA Cup finals in recent memory, Arsenal held their nerve after going 2 down in the first 10 minutes thanks to goals from Hull City’s Curtis Davies and James Chester, and proceeded to come back to tie 2-2 in regular time thanks to a killer first half free kick from Santi Cazorla and then a goal-poacher-like strike from centre half Laurent Kocielny with 20 minutes to go in the 2nd half ensuring extra time.

But the best was saved for last, specifically with just a minute left to play in extra time with a penalty shoot-out looming, man of the match and Arsenal’s player of the season, Aaron Ramsey arrived on the scene to deliver an awesome finish, from Giroud’s back-heel, into the corner of Alan McGregor’s goal with the outside of his right foot, ending the drought and the 9 year trophy wait – sending Gooners everywhere into wild celebrations. Arsene Wenger seemed to play it right, not panicking and using his deeper bench to good effect and his introduction of Sanogo while confounding some seemed to work and the addition of Wilshere and Rosicky late on really helped Arsenal push on to a deserved victory.

Aaron Ramsey seemed to be willing the team on yesterday, he looked like he just would not let Arsenal lose and it was most fitting when he scored the winning goal, capping his man of the match perfomance and a breakthrough season for him and the club. The Welshman will surely go from strength to strength now and establish himself firmly amongst the game’s elite world players as he leads Arsenal to a new level of prosperity, with the next trophy looking like it could be just around the corner, perhaps in a couple of months in the Community Shield with further honours coming in the very near future as the team has shown they have what it takes to win big games and as a footnote have made the “trophy-less” Special One eat his words.
