“That’s The Type Of Player…” Kevin Campbell Claims Arsenal Could Dump Balogun In Favour Of 25 Goal Nigerian Ace

Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell has urged his former club to pursue a deal for Napoli’s Victor Osimhen this summer.

The Nigerian international has scored 25 goals in all competitions so far this season, and he is being pursued by other Premier League teams, including Chelsea and Manchester United. With Folarin Balogun having impressed out on loan at Reims, many feel that the 21-year-old will add sufficient depth to the forward line when he returns to London in July, but Campbell says he wants someone, like Osimhen, who has more experience:

“Balogun has been doing so fantastic over in France, but is he the answer? Could he do the job? He’s untested at Champions League level. We’re being linked with Osimhen, that’s the type of player, you think ‘he’s the one.’ If he came in you could dovetail Champions League midweek, Jesus is so versatile, Trossard is so versatile, Martinelli is versatile. We can mix and match and that’s’ the type of squad we need.”

While Osimhen is undoubtedly a very talented player, Napoli are expected to demand in excess of £100m for the striker. With that being the case, it’s hard to see the Gunners breaking their transfer record for him, when there are bigger priorities in other areas of the pitch.

Bringing in a new right-back, adding depth in midfield and, potentially finding a replacement for Kieran Tierney, are likely to take precedence over recruiting a new number nine, but we shall have to wait and see how things go over the summer.
