“That’s The End Of His Career At Arsenal” Parlour Doesn’t See How Star Can Get Back Into Emery’s Good Books

Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour believes Mesut Ozil’s time with the Gunners is coming to an end. The German has not been named in the last three matchday squads.

Manager Unai Emery has said that many of the young players deserve a chance ahead of the World Cup winner, and Parlour thinks it could spell the end for the midfielder:

“Ozil isn’t even in the squad now. I think that’s the end of his career at Arsenal because you’ve got youngsters who deserve an opportunity more than him at the moment.”

Ozil has only made two starts for the Gunners this season, coming in the 2-2 draw against Watford and the 5-0 win over Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup where he captained the team.

Despite his experience and creativity, it seems Emery prefers the likes of Bukayo Saka, Reiss Nelson and Gabriel Martinelli in the squad, while loanee Dani Ceballos has taken his position as the main playmaker.

With Ozil reportedly earning £350,000 a week, the club may consider offloading him to get him off the wage bill. Whether there will be teams prepared to pay his sizeable salary, it remains to be seen.
