Andre Marriner will referee Arsenal’s game against Liverpool tomorrow night, it has been confirmed.
The official is one of the most experienced in the Premier League but supporters on Twitter are not best pleased with the appointment:

This guy always tricks me into thinking he looks like a normal fair ref, then he does a madness

To be honest, fans are never pleased no matter who the referee is. Marriner is one of the most lenient officials in the English top-flight, with only three other refs averaging fewer fouls per game.
In terms of bookings and red cards, the 51-year-old has handed out 51 yellows and sent off two players, which puts him in the middle of the pack when it comes to dishing out cards.
If we look at his record when officiating Arsenal this season, he has booked only two Gunners players in the two matches he has refereed, coincidentally both against Leeds. When it comes to Liverpool, he has been very lenient too, with just one yellow card in the two games he has covered.
