Arsenal are set to begin talks with Atletico Madrid about signing Joao Felix, according to reports in the English media.
It is believed that Atletico have lowered their initial demands for the Portuguese international. The La Liga side are prepared to settle for a £9.5m loan fee with an obligation to buy the striker for £70.5m at the end of the season.
Supporters on Twitter believe that, if the Gunners can get Felix for this price, they should grab the opportunity with both hands:
That's an insanely good deal. If we manage to loan him for 7.5M that'd be amazing as well, but we shouldn't be too ambitious.

£70.5m for felix in today's market is a fair deal for me. Get it done @Arsenal

I'd take him for £80m. We'll never have a better chance to push City as far as we have this season…

Manchester United are also said to be in negotiations for Felix so it remains to be seen which club will win the race for the 23-year-old’s signature, but it appears that a deal is now more realistic after Atletico softened their transfer stance.
Felix originally cost the Spanish side £113m when he joined from Benfica in 2019, so it seems they are prepared to lose around £33m to offload the player during the January transfer window.
