‘Take This Guy And Sell Iwobi’ ‘Absolute Nonsense’ I’m In Tears, Arsenal Why?’ Fans Unhappy As Club Turn Down Chance To Sign Ex-Liverpool Star

Arsenal have been offered Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho but have turned down the chance of signing him on loan, according to the Guardian journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Barca are believed to be demanding a sizeable loan fee for the former Liverpool player, but that hasn’t stopped supporters on Twitter questioning the club’s decision not to go after the Brazilian on deadline day:

The Gunners will sign two defenders before 5 pm this evening, barring any last-minute issues, with David Luiz joining from Chelsea for £8m and Kieran Tierney arriving from Celtic for £25m.

That will likely end the club’s summer transfer business, and while a move for Coutinho would certainly excite the fans, it was always an unlikely deal considering the attacking options manager Unai Emery already has at his disposal.

Something could still happen before the window closes today but it would be a huge surprise if the Brazilian arrived at the Emirates.
