Szczesny Commits Future To Arsenal

Szczesny Commits Future To Arsenal

Polish youngster, Wojciech Szczesny was brought to London back in 2006 from Legia Warsaw as a mere 16-year old. He has since been educated in the Arsenal youth setup and over the years, has graduated from their system into the first-team. He played second fiddle to the likes of Manuel Almunia and Lukasz Fabianski, but over the past three seasons, he has done well to cement his place as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper.

The Polish international is having an outstanding season personally as his team currently lead the table with a 2-point gap. He has put in some inspiring displays and has shown his true class by pulling out some jaw dropping saves to maintain his team’s ascendancy in games more often than not.

The Arsenal defense has improved dramatically in this calendar year, and apart from the strong partnership of Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscienly, much credit also goes to Szczesny. Arsenal have been on a mission of building a strong nucleus of the team for the future and as a result, have already moved to secure the future of 6 of their young stars – Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey, Kieran Gibbs, Carl Jenkinson, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott.

They have now made sure that they retain Szczesny too and form a strong backbone of the team. ESPNFC report that manager Arsene Wenger was a delighted man after getting Szczesny’s signature on the new and improved contract, and sang the praises of the shot-stopper as he said, “We’re very pleased Wojciech has signed a new long-term contract. I have always believed he is an extremely talented player, with excellent reflexes and good mental strength.”

“He continues to grow and improve all the time too, so he has the potential to be even better. He can be an important part of Arsenal Football Club for many years to come.”

Going by the performances of the 23-year old this season, he looks destined to make it big in the coming seasons; and Arsenal will be delighted to keep hold of him in their bid to reclaim the glory days which have been eluding them in recent years.
