Arsenal are tracking Real Betis attacking midfielder Nabil Fekir, according to Goal. The Gunners have kept an eye on the France international for a number of years and they are considering making a move for the 27-year-old if they can’t secure Martin Odegaard on a permanent basis in the summer.
It is believed that the 27-year-old will be available for around €30m (approximately £26m), which would make him a cheaper alternative to Odegaard.
However, fans on Twitter are not particular in favour of a move, with many feeling that Fekir wouldn’t offer the quality that Arsenal need as a playmaker:
No no no such a downgrade we aren’t a serious club if we sign him

Rather have Ødegaard, even if it means having to pay double that amount

Oodegard should be the only priority fekir isn’t great. Was about 3 years ago

If we sign finished Fekir we can also change a name and become Crystal Palace (with all the respect to them). I am done.

This is why we’ll never get nowhere. Can’t keep signing mediocre players. All it takes is ONE good window this summer. We NEED Ødegaard, no discussion

At the moment, it appears that Fekir is just a backup option for Odegaard and supporters will be hoping that it stays that way. There are, though, concerns over the amount that Real Madrid may ask for the Norwegian. One report over the weekend suggested that he could cost £50m.
