Success about more than Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan says Gunners defender

Arsenal’s success in the future must come down to more than how Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mhitaryan play together, insists defender Shkodran Mustafi.

The duo, who played together at Borussia Dortmund, have had promising starts to their Arsenal career since making the move to The Emirates in January.

Aubameyang, who joined directly from Dortmund as a club record signing, has found the net three times in five games, while Mkhitaryan, who made the switch from Manchester United, has scored twice and registered and impressive six assists.

When asked how the duo’s influence can help improve Arsene Wenger’s side going into the latter part of the season however, Mustafi insists the Gunners success comes down to the team as a whole, and not simply the former Dortmund pair.

“Obviously they’ve known each other for a long time, but football isn’t about one pair, or three players playing together,” Mustafi told Arsenal Player.

“We need to find more solutions as a team playing from the back up to the front and through the whole team.

“We have to try to find more solutions so we can bring everyone’s strength [into play]. That’s when we are at our best, when we can play the way that everyone is playing at their strengths. Then we achieve different results.”
