Spurs And Everton Make ‘Significant Advances’ For Arsenal Target with 17M Bids Lodged

Tottenham and Everton have both made bids in the region of €20m (£17m) for Lazio attacking midfielder Joaquin Correa, according to Il Messaggero.

The Italian newspaper reports that the two teams have made “significant advances” for the Argentinian international, although neither offer was accepted by Lazio.

Arsenal, Wolves and Leicester have also “shown interest” in Correa and have contacted the player’s agent but, so far, they have not come forward to make a formal proposal.

Previously reports have suggested that Lazio president Claudio Lotito wants €40m (£34m) to €45m (£38.4m) for the 26-year-old, but that figure has recently dropped to around €33m (£28m) with a loan also being a possible option.

The Gunners are looking for a new number 10, but most journalists in the UK believe the London club have set their sights on either Leicester’s James Maddison or Real Madrid’s Martin Odegaard. It appears Correa is quite a way down the list of targets being considered.
