Speaking in Chile Sanchez reveals he could stay at Arsenal should they prove their ambition

Alexis Sanchez’s future has been a hot topic in recent weeks and looks set to be the transfer saga of the summer amid reported interest from PSG, Juventus and rivals Chelsea.

Sanchez has recently spoken of his desire for trophies, and even alluded to having a strong interest in a move to Chelsea during an interview whilst on international duty will Chile last month:

‘I am happy in London and I hope to finish my contract at Arsenal. I want to stay in a winning team and keep playing in the same city. I want to play in a team that has aspirations.”

Sanchez has reiterated his desire for trophies again this week as reported by Goal.com, when giving an interview that was published on Arsenal’s website where he is quoted as saying:

“Looking at everything I’ve done in my career as a footballer, at all the titles, I believe that what’s hugely important is motivation,”

“If a footballer is well motivated and has various things to motivate him every day, he will keep achieving his goals.

“Everything in life depends on feeling motivated, whether you are talking about a child, a family or an individual.”

The Chilean’s contract runs out at the end of next season, a vital bargaining chip for the player, who will need convincing if he is to extend his stay at the Emirates. One way the Gunners can convince their star man to sign on the dotted line is by investing heavily this summer, improving their squad so that they have a much better chance of success next year.

With Arsene Wenger’s legacy on the line as well next year (should the Frenchman decide to stay as being widely reported), it would not be at all surprising if Arsenal spent the big bucks this summer.

The North-Londoner’s could certainly do with a marquee signing or two; four years ago they signed Mesut Ozil, the following summer they snared Sanchez from Barcelona, and have signed no star men since. Unless you consider either the aging Petr Cech or red card machine Granit Xhaka (a record 9 in 3 years) a star man.

Sanchez is hungry for major trophies; it’s time for Arsenal to start delivering or face losing the man who has a staggering 47 goals and 21 assists in his 92 Premier League games for the club. Not a player you would want to lose. Arsenal face their biggest season in recent memory next year, and they’ll need their best player still at the club (and happy about it) if they want to seriously challenge for the Premier League.
