Arsenal won’t sign Dani Ceballos on a permanent basis when his loan deal expires in the summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The reliable Italian journalist claims the Gunners made the decision to send him back to Real Madrid at the end of the season quite some time ago:
Dani Ceballos is expected to leave Arsenal at the end of the season, the decision has been made weeks ago. The midfielder will come back to Real Madrid after spending the season on loan to Arsenal, then he’ll decide his future. ⚪️? #AFC #Real

Ceballos’s form has improved as the season has gone on, but his abject display against Villarreal, which saw him sent off, in the 2-1 defeat on Thursday night, was the final nail in the coffin for most supporters. Fans on Twitter, therefore, welcomed the news that the 24-year-old would not be staying at the Emirates:
Some good news at least

He doesn't need to wait till end of the season. Let him go now.

After a promising first season with Arsenal, Ceballos simply didn’t push on as most expected he would do. He makes some poor decisions on and off the ball, and even after two years playing in England, he still doesn’t seem to be comfortable playing at a higher tempo. The Gunners will clearly be looking for an upgrade when the transfer window reopens.
