Sol Campbell Gives His Backing As Arsenal Close In On Signing “Really Good” Partey Replacement

Arsenal legend Sol Campbell says Brighton’s Moises Caicedo would be a “really good” addition to the Gunners’ squad for the second half of the season.

Manager Mikel Arteta does lack options in the middle of the park, and after Thomas Partey picked up a hip injury against City on Friday evening, the need to strengthen in that area has become even greater. Campbell feels Caicedo could be an ideal replacement for the Ghanaian:

“Signing Moises Caicedo would be really good for Arsenal. He’s a young player who is very talented and knows the Premier League. I feel it’s one of the last spots in this Arsenal squad that fans are worried about if Thomas Partey got injured. So, they’re trying to address that situation. It’s going to be a tough run-in with Manchester City for the title. But if they get the correct pieces in, they’ll give themselves a good chance.”

Caicedo has already made it clear that he wants to leave Brighton, having taken to social media to express his desire to join Arsenal.

At the time of writing, a fee hasn’t been agreed between the two teams but, with the Ecuadorian pressing for a move, it seems likely that something will happen before the transfer deadline.

Other teams, including Chelsea and Liverpool, have also been credited with an interest in Caicedo but it seems the player has his heart set on a switch to the Emirates.
