Arsenal have “shown their interest” in Everton midfielder Amadou Onana, according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri.
The Belgian reporter claims the Toffees could be open to selling the 21-year-old just six months after recruiting the player from Lille for £33m due to cashflow problems, and he says the Gunners, Chelsea and Newcastle are all weighing up bids:
🔵🇧🇪 Initially unthinkable, the departure of Frank #Lampard coupled with the urgent cash needs at #EvertonFC opens the door to a departure from Amadou #Onana this winter. #ChelseaFC & #ArsenalFC who are looking for a similar profile + #NUFC shown their interest. Considering the number of links with midfield players in recent days, it’s clear that Mikel Arteta’s side are looking to recruit someone in that area of the pitch before the transfer window closes next week.
In addition to Onana, Juventus’s Weston McKennie, Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi, Valencia’s Yunus Musah and even West Ham’s Declan Rice have been suggested as potential targets.
However, most of these options will only be available at the end of the season so the fact that Onana could be sold now moves him to the front of the queue. The Belgian hasn’t exactly stood out in an Everton side that has been struggling this season, but he may thrive in a different environment where his talents could be put to better use.
