Should Wenger Put His Trust In This 19-Year Old?

Apparently when we spoke about the players who could return to help Arsenal we skipped an important name which is that of Gedion Zelalem. The 19-year-old’s future is on the verge of being decided as Wenger needs to make up his mind regarding whether to keep the young midfielder at the Emirates or not.

With Xhaka being a bit overwhelmed apparently by the Premier League, the French boss could use another midfielder, especially one with Zelalem’s skills. The only problem with him is his physique which doesn’t look quite ready for the big leagues. Sure, some may argue that he has already played for Rangers and that at times the Scottish league is as tough as the PL, but at the same time others could reply by saying that 28 games for Rangers is not enough to get you ready for Arsenal.

On one hand Zelalem is quite young and inexperienced but on the other hand he seems pretty fearless. Even though he had some knee problems back in 2013, fortunately this youngster doesn’t know how what it takes to return from a serious injury. He is willing to listen to every word Wenger says without exception.

Zelalem is disciplined, very technical for his position and incredibly good at seeing passing opportunities. He is very similar to Vieira in some ways but unfortunately for now lacks the strength. Even so why not give him a chance to get acquainted with the starting eleven? Arsenal are still in the FA Cup which would be a good chance for Zelalem to make the transition and maybe get ready for next season. According to the Daily Star, the youngster’s fate will be decided in a matter of days as he is targeted by several smaller teams as well.
