Should Wenger Bid For Reus?

The German international, Marco Reus has been in devastating form this season, scoring 15 goals and providing 11 assists in 39 appearances for the Bundesliga champions. The 23-year-old is one of the most talented and skilful players in the Bundesliga and was also voted Footballer of the Year in Germany in 2012.

The attacking midfielder was a youth player for 10 years at Dortmund before being released to Rot Weiss Ahlen in 2006. He got a chance to impress with Borussia Monchengladbach in 2009 and grabbed the opportunity with both hands. In his last two years, he amassed an incredible 29 league goals and provided 21 assists in 66 appearances.

Dortmund did not hesitate to bring back their former youth player and what a decision that has turned out to be. Reus clearly likes playing for his old team again and thinks that his team can win the Champions League this season and more as the Guardian reports.

There is absolutely no doubt that he would fit in with Wenger’s style of play. He is a player with quality similar to that of ex Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri. He has amazing control with the ball and has the ability to wriggle out of tight situations and lay on assists for his teammates. He can play wide on the wings and can also play ‘in-the-hole’ behind the striker. He is able to dribble past players and also has an eye for goal.

However, it would take a big money offer for Dortmund to part with one of their star assets as many think he is the most talented of all the current German youngsters who are making waves in international football. Will Wenger break his transfer record fee to bring the player to the Emirates?
