Shearer Names Two Arsenal Players In His Premier League Team Of The Week

BBC pundit Alan Shearer has named Arsenal summer signings Gabriel and Thomas Partey in his Premier League team of the week following their performances against Manchester United last weekend.

While he described Partey as “magnificent” on the day, as well as calling him a “brilliant signing,” he also singled out Gabriel for praise, stating that the Brazilian was able to snuff out the threat posed from United’s forward line:

“Kept Manchester United’s twin threat of Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood very quiet on a memorable afternoon for Arsenal. Another impressive signing.”

In terms of the rest of the eleven, Shearer named Southampton’s Alex McCarthy in goal, Manchester City’s Kyle Walker at right-back, with Liverpool’s Nat Phillips and Wolves’ Rayan Ait-Nouri as the other defenders.

Alongside Partey in midfield, he went with Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse and Leicester City’s Youri Tielemans. His frontline consisted of Chelsea’s Hakim Ziyech, Newcastle’s Callum Wilson and Foxes striker Jamie Vardy.

Gabriel and Partey’s inclusion in Shearer’s XI is well deserved and Gunners supporters will be hoping they can keep up their excellent form in the coming weeks and months.
