Sevilla clarify transfer rumours with Arsenal

Sevilla have been quick to clarify rumours surrounding Steven N’Zonzi’s recent trip to London, which sparked huge rumours about a potential move to Arsenal.

The Spanish club’s chairman Jose Castro says the trip was for personal reasons and not to negotiate a move back to the Premier League.

N’Zonzi has blossomed in La Liga since moving from England in 2015, and signed a new contract for the club in January which will keep him in Spain until 2020.

But the Frenchman has not featured for Sevilla since their 3-3 draw with Liverpool last month amid reports of a disagreement with backroom staff, and Arsenal are being heavily linked with a move for the midfielder.

However, Castro has been quick to deny such reports.

“His situation is due to a technical issue with the coaches and as with all the technical issues, he can change it,” Castro said.

“He has travelled to London to visit his son with our permission.

“There aren’t any offers to sign N’Zonzi. I can’t talk about clauses or prices if we don’t have an offer.

“We respect the decision of our coaches, he is training with their mates but currently he isn’t playing.”
