Serie A giants set to beat Arsenal to World Cup star

Juventus are hoping to beat both Arsenal and Manchester United to Russia international Aleksandr Golovin, according to reports.

The 22-year-old’s form has starred with Russia at the World Cup so far, the midfielder managing a goal and two assists in the opening two games to help his country to an explosive start to the tournament.


Russia beat Saudi Arabia 5-0 on the opening day, and followed it up with another impressive 3-1 win against Egypt last night to all but confirm their place in the last 16.

And following his form in Russia, Juventus are now planning to move as soon as possible for the highly rated youngster to avoid a bidding war for his signature later in the summer.

Juve are already believed to have opened talks with CSKA over a potential transfer, offering around €18 million for his services, as well as a sell on-clause to offer the Russian club any percentage of any future transfer fee.

CSKA however are likely to hold out for around €25 million.

Manchester United and Arsenal are also eyeing Golovin, with both sides keen to bolster the options in midfield ahead of the new season.

Both sides were given a boost Golovin would prefer a move to England when his father revealed he was already learning English ahead of any potential summer transfer.
