AC Milan are interested in signing Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira, according to reports in Italy.
Current Sampdoria manager Marco Giampaolo is poised to take over at the Rossoneri and is keen on taking one of his former players to the San Siro.
Torreira played under Giampaolo for two years at Sampdoria before he made the move to the Gunners for £26m last summer.
Whether Milan would stand any chance of securing a deal for the Uruguayan international, it seems unlikely.
The Serie A club will need to sell players in order to fund a move for Torreira after failing to qualify for the Champions League.
In addition, Arsenal would be very reluctant to see the 23-year-old leave the Emirates following an excellent first season in the Premier League.
Giampaolo’s pursuit of his former player seems more like wishful thinking, rather than a realistic ambition if he is indeed appointed Milan’s new manager.
