Arsenal winger Reiss Nelson is no closer to signing a new contract with the club, according to reports.
Even though the 23-year-old could leave on a free transfer at the end of the season when his current deal expires, there has been no progress in talks between the Gunners and the player. When asked whether the London club should keep Nelson, the vast majority of supporters on Twitter agreed that he deserves a contract extension:
I think he’s a decent squad player and won’t exactly cost a lot in wages so seems like an obvious decision to me

Yes, he wants to stay, it makes no sense to let his contract expire and walk out the door for free. He would command a reasonably good fee if we decided to sell.

Renew his deal. He is a real talent

I always had trust in this boy

If he leaves, he's likely to do much better than Willock even. Let the bit stay. He's a gem.

If he impresses Mikel Arteta till the end of the season,Give him a new deal

Yes! He’s a top talent. There’s no down side to it. Doesn’t prevent us from getting another winger because we have space for 5 wingers in the team and even if there’s playtime issues, we can loan him out for regular mins. Eventually can decide to keep or sell for at least £25m

I think renewing his contract should be a priority after we get Saka and Saliba tied down. What he's shown this season when he's fit has been great!

Nelson has impressed when given his opportunities this season but an injury sustained against Juventus in a friendly back in December has hampered his progress.
Even so, he does provide decent backup for the likes of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli, and there is every chance that he would go on to thrive elsewhere if Arsenal were to allow him to leave.
West Ham and Sassuolo have been credited with an interest in Nelson, although the player is said to be keen on remaining at the Emirates. From the looks of things, fans also want him to stay.
