Schneiderlin Leaving Saints, But Not For Arsenal?

Schneiderlin Leaving Saints, But Not For Arsenal?

Southampton are desperately trying to keep hold of their remaining best players, but it seems the club will be unable to keep hold of Arsenal target Morgan Schneiderlin, who could be heading for Tottenham instead, according to a report by talkSPORT.

This summer has been nothing short of a disaster for Southampton. Their unprecedented success last season was largely due to their former manager Mauricio Pochettino. The former Argentine international guided a rather young squad to 8th place in the Barclays Premier League. However, Pochettino left for Tottenham Hotspur after the season concluded, and the odds were on for players like Adam Lallana, Luke Shaw, Rickie Lambert, Schneiderlin and Dejan Lovren to leave for the top four clubs following last season’s impressive performances. As expected, all but Schneiderlin have left for clubs like Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal, and the Saints are down to bare bones.

Schneiderlin was selected in Didier Deschamps’squad for the World Cup in Brazil, and he is one of the only big players left in the Southampton squad. The Frenchman was forced to submit a transfer request, as he looked to secure a move away, but has not yet managed to find a solution. The report suggests Pochettino is keen on bringing the midfielder to White Hart Lane, which would see the manager reunite with his star player and Arsenal losing out on another potential target.
