Santi Cazorla Travels To Barcelona For Treatment

As we have written on many occasions in the past, Santi Cazorla has to be one of the most under-rated if not THE most under-rated player in the Premier League. The Spanish international is a genuine two-footed footballer who creates so much on the field with his vision and skills while always doing the simple things right too. When fit, Cazorla is a key member of Arsenal’s first XI and is pretty much an automatic selection for Arsene Wenger in big games.

The midfielder sustained his achilles injury in a pretty innocuous incident while playing in the Champions League for the Gunners back on October 19th. On the night Arsene Wenger withdrew Cazorla early in the second half as a precaution and both the player and manager expected him to only miss a short amount of time if any. Unfortunately for all involved the injury the Spaniard picked up in the 6-0 rout of Ludogorets has proven to be rather more serious than originally thought as the player has already missed a month of the season.

Cazorla went to see well-reknowned Spanish doctor, Ramon Cugat a month ago for an injection and was hopeful that he would recover relatively quickly as the Mirror report. Sadly the recovery has stalled for the player who has continued to feel a problem after intensifying his training. Instead of linking up with the Spanish national team over the international break, Cazorla returned to see Dr Gugat in Barcelona for another injection in hopes of completely addressing his achilles issue.

Doctor Gugat was the preferred medic of Pep Guardiola during his time in charge of Barcelona. Guardiola sent the likes of Xavi and Iniesta to see Doctor Gugat as well as receiving treatment himself from the Doctor during his playing career.  Arsene Wenger can at least take some comfort knowing that his player is getting the best care available and while he is not likely to play for Arsenal this month, being fit for the busy festive period may be a more realistic target for both Santi Cazorla and the club. It will be a big boost to the team to get Cazorla back, so hopefully the midfielder responds to Doctor Gugat’s treatment this time around and can return to action sooner rather than later.
