Sagna Remains Committed To Arsenal

The 30-year old Bacary Sagna has been an ever-present figure in the Arsenal defense in recent years, except for a few nasty injuries followed by lengthy spells on the sidelines. He was virtually absent during the latter half of the 2011-2012 season when he suffered two broken legs back-to-back, that too on the same right leg. However, he had an injury free campaign last time around and was impressively consistent in his performances.

His consistency has been one key trait which has seen him become one of the most reliable right-backs in English football since his arrival from French outfit Auxerre back in 2005. He was being courted by a few clubs, who were understood to be interested in signing the full-back. The name of Paris Saint-Germain was the most prominent, as the club were taking a keen interest in him. It was also being reported previously in the press that he could very well be on his way out of Arsenal, particularly as he has now entered the final year of his current contract.

However, Sagna has put an end to all these rumors as he says that he is 100% committed to Arsenal and is looking to have another fruitful season, which could hopefully end with the club winning some silverware. He was reported by Metro as saying, “I enjoy playing for Arsenal,”

“I love my team, and I always give my best. I’m still here. Many people were talking about me going back to France but I’m still here and I’m looking forward to a big season with Arsenal.”

“Last season was difficult. I only had one year left and people were looking at that and maybe thinking I would leave. But I tried to stay as calm as I could. Now I will work hard in pre-season and have a good season for Arsenal.”

With these rumors finally put to bed, the French international will hope that he will be left out of the rumor mill now and will finally be able to solely focus on the upcoming season with the Gunners.
