Roma are considering whether to make a bid for Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira, according to reports in the Italian media.
The Giallorossi are believed to be keen on signing a holding midfield player this summer and had originally set their sights on snapping up Jorginho from Chelsea.
However, Torreira is also being considered, not least because the Uruguayan international has stated that he is open to leaving the Emirates. It is thought the 24-year-old wants more game time and would prefer a return to Italy.
With the Gunners pursuing Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey, it seems that Torreira does not figure prominently in head coach Mikel Arteta’s plans for next season so a departure looks to be on the cards.
As well as Roma, AC Milan and Fiorentina are also thought to be interested in the Uruguayan and Arsenal will be hoping for a bidding war between the trio of clubs.
