Roma Receive ‘Requests’ From Arsenal And 2 Other PL Clubs For 31.6M Rated Brazilian

Arsenal have enquired about the availability of Roma centre-back Roger Ibanez, according to Calciomercato.com. The Italian website claims the Gunners, along with Leicester and Everton, have sent “requests” asking for the Brazilian.

The defender has been in excellent form for the Serie A side this season, but there are some additional complications that would make any transfer difficult to complete.

Ibanez is actually on loan from Atalanta but Roma are obligated to buy the 22-year-old at the end of the season, so the Giallorossi do effectively control the centre-half’s future.

However, as part of the deal to sign the player, Atalanta will be handed 10% of any future transfer fee if he is sold before 2024, meaning Roma will place a high price tag on him.

Calciomercato report that Ibanez could fetch between €30m (£27m) and €35m) (£31.6m) were he to be let go. Whether Arsenal would be prepared to make an offer for that amount, it remains to be seen.
