Rodgers Compares Suarez To Cavani And Prices Suarez At £55million

Arsenal have already had an initial £30 million bid turned down by Liverpool. The latest we know is that the Gunners were on the verge of returning for the Uruguayan with an improved offer of £35 million, which is much closer to Liverpool’s first valuation of £40 million which they were looking for. Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was also handed the money to meet Liverpool’s £40 million asking price, had they turned down their second offer too.

However, Liverpool are determined to keep hold of their star player, as they want to build the club’s future around him and have identified Suarez as a key part in bringing Liverpool back to the glory days. Therefore they really want him to stay at Anfield, but they are unable to provide him Champions League football, something which he is yearning for and which has been identified as the biggest reason for him seeking a move to another top European club qualified for the Champions League.

Rodgers too has reiterated his desire of retaining Suarez for next season, and ESPN reports that he has taken a very bold step in demostrating this as he declared to the press that Suarez is worth £55 million, the same price at which his Uruguayan compatriot Edinson Cavani joined Paris Saint-Germain only recently. He also revealed that Liverpool rejected Arsenal’s offer as it did not meet their expectations. He said, “When you consider Edinson Cavani has gone for £55 million [to Paris Saint-Germain], Luis is up there in that bracket of top talent. Arsenal’s was an offer we didn’t deem worthy of the talent,”

“The reality is we have had one offer. So there can be as much speculation as you like, there’s been nothing beyond that.”

With Rodgers comparing Cavani and Suarez, do you see his tactics working and managing to push up the price Arsenal are willing to pay for Suarez?
