Robert Pires urges Gunners to move for Manchester United star

Former Arsenal hero Robert Pires has urged the Gunners to make a move for Anthony Martial this summer.

Martial is reportedly being eyed by a number of clubs, including both Chelsea and Arsenal, after falling out of favour with Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.

The Frenchman is reportedly unhappy with his lack of first team action, and could leave for pastures new come the end of the season in search of regular football.

Arsenal already completed the signing of Manchester United’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan during the January transfer window, and Pires believes his former side should return to Old Trafford this summer to recruit the Armenian’s former team-mate.

“I’m a big fan of Anthony Martial,” Pires, who won two Premier League titles under Arsene Wenger, told bwin.

“He’s very fast, he has excellent dribbling skills and he has the potential to score a lot of goals, but I think he has to play more football.

“I don’t know why he isn’t playing more for Manchester United and [Jose] Mourinho needs to show more confidence in him. I would welcome him at Arsenal!”

Martial has scored 36 goals in just under three seasons at Old Trafford, after leaving AS Monaco for a fee of around £58 million back in 2015.
