Riqui Puig’s Stance On Joining Arsenal Revealed As Arteta Targets Barcelona Star

Barcelona midfielder Riqui Puig is not considering leaving the Catalan club on loan, even if he isn’t afforded any minutes by manager Ronald Koeman, according to Fichajes.net.

The Spanish website reports that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is keen on bringing the 21-year-old to the Emirates during the January transfer window but the player may need a lot of convincing.

Puig is reportedly determined to succeed at Barca, despite only playing seven games this season, and it means the Gunners’ attempts to sign him on loan until the summer could well end in failure.

The presence of Dani Ceballos is also thought to be a complication in any deal going ahead as the Real Madrid midfielder would be in direct competition with his fellow Spaniard for a place in the team.

At the moment then, a move for Puig looks quite far off and, with the player seemingly not keen on making the switch to England, it may lead to Arsenal moving onto other targets.
