Rio Ferdinand Predicts Arsenal Star Will Be The Premier League’s Player Of The Season

TNT Sports pundit Rio Ferdinand has chosen Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard as his pick for the Premier League Player of the Season.

Asked for his predictions by Premier League productions (via Manchester Evening News), the United legend named the Norwegian as his favourite for the accolade.

Odegaard had an outstanding 2022/23 campaign, racking up 15 goals and providing 8 assists in the Premier League, as the Gunners narrowly missed out on the title.

At 24 years of age, the playmaker is also about to hit his prime as a professional footballer so there is a good chance that he can improve on those numbers this season.

Odegaard will have a lot of competition for Player of the Year

After bagging a brace on the opening day, Odegaard’s international teammate Erling Haaland seems to have carried on from where he left off last campaign.

If he replicates his goal return from his first twelve months in England, it will be difficult to stop him from winning more individual awards.

Of course, there will be others in contention, including Kevin De Bruyne and Liverpool’s Mo Salah, and there could be other Gunners players up for the prize such as Bukayo Saka too.

Ferdinand has made other predictions about Arsenal

The former England international was also asked for his verdict on who will make the top four. He went with City winning the title and his former team United as runners-up.

Ferdinand claims Arsenal may only finish third this season, with Liverpool fourth. The fact that he placed United second does suggest he is being slightly biased towards his former team.

The predictions were made before the Red Devils’ ropey 1-0 win over Wolves on Monday evening so he may still have a change of heart on where United will finish. The fact that he is backing Odegaard to be Player of the Year is, though, something Arsenal supporters can get behind.
