Rio Ferdinand Delivers His Verdict On Arsenal’s Summer Transfer Business

BT Sport pundit Rio Ferdinand believes Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has improved his squad during the summer transfer window.

The former Manchester United defender says the Gunners have backed Arteta with the way the revamp of the team has been handled and the club are clearly fully behind the Spaniard:

“I like Arsenal. Yes (Arteta has a process and Arsenal fans should trust it). I just think he has been very, very definitive in what he is doing… Now, they have opened the cheque book, brought more players in Jesus, etc… have come in now and you have to trust what he is doing. Do they look to be in a better position now than they were at the start of last season? 100%.”

There is no doubt that Arsenal have managed to strengthen in key areas, especially up front, following the arrival of Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City.

Fans still feel they may be a bit short in midfield and Arteta seems to be aware of the issue, having expressed that he would like to bring in one or two more faces before the end of the month.

Selling off the deadwood is believed to be the priority at the moment, and it appears progress is being made in that area, with both Bernd Leno and Lucas Torreira seemingly close to leaving the Emirates. That could free up space to make another signing.
