REPORT: ‘Unhappy’ Arsenal Midfielder Set For Showdown Talks Over Future

Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira is currently “unhappy” with his situation at the Emirates, according to TMW. The Italian website reports that the Uruguayan wants clarification on his role at the club.

A meeting has been scheduled for next week when the 23-year-old will sit down with senior figures to discuss his future. A decision on whether he’ll leave in January will reportedly then be taken following talks.

Torreira has made 14 appearances in all competitions for the Gunners this campaign, but he has only made three starts in the league. It is a stark contrast to last season when he was a regular first-team player.

The situation with Granit Xhaka may, though, increase Torreira’s minutes on the pitch. Manager Unai Emery has confirmed today that the Swiss midfielder is still not in the right frame of mind to play and he will sit out the match against Leicester tomorrow.

That will give Torreira more chances to start games. He played 73 minutes against Wolves last weekend and sat out the game versus Vitoria midweek with the expectation that he’ll be named in the eleven that face the Foxes at the King Power.
