Arsenal and England all-star Bukayo Saka has reportedly signed a new long-term contract with the club, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.

Saka’s initial deal was set to expire in the summer of 2024 – however, this is now something that Arsenal fans need not worry about, as Saka has committed his future to the Gunners. An official announcement is expected from the club ‘very soon’.

Bukayo Saka current contract situation

Saka and Arsenal have been discussing a new contract for several months. While a verbal agreement was reportedly agreed in February, it has taken an extra three months for everything to be ironed out. Despite this, Saka has not been linked with a move elsewhere – remaining at Arsenal always appeared to be the likely outcome in this situation.

In Romano’s tweet, he wrote: “🚨 Understand Bukayo Saka has signed the new long term contract with Arsenal, done and sealed. Huge one for Gunners after the verbal agreement reached in February. Official announcement, next formal step expected very soon. Here we go, confirmed.”

How important is Bukayo Saka to Arsenal?

Saka has played a pivotal role in Arsenal’s best Premier League season in over a decade. Not only has he provided a consistent and frequent goal threat, he has also been a driving creative influence for the Gunners.

He combines powerful running and electric pace with adept dribbling ability to perfection. Additionally, he has also developed a very strong end product this season, too.

So far, Saka has scored 13 Premier League goals in the current campaign, alongside 11 assists – giving him one of the highest G/A records in the division (a total of 24).

Only Harry Kane, Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah can boast a superior G/A to Saka this season. Given his young age of just 21, the Ealing-born boy’s best years are still well ahead of him.
