REPORT: Arsenal ‘Step Forward’ To Sign 35M Rated Serie A Star As They Consider Making Part Exchange Offer

Arsenal are interested in signing Juventus centre-back Merih Demiral in the summer, according to Calciomercatonews.com

The Italian rumour mongers claim that the Gunners are willing to “step forward” in the race to sign the Turkish international and they could even offer Granit Xhaka in exchange.

Demiral is said to be valued at around €40m (£35m) by Juventus, and with Xhaka reportedly worth about €25m (£22m), the Swiss international could be used as a makeweight in the deal.

However, Juve are not thought to be interested in Xhaka, and the Serie A champions are believed to be reluctant to let the 22-year-old leave the club, despite his lack of game time.

Reports last month suggested that they had turned down a sizeable offer from Liverpool for Demiral before the transfer window closed, as they rate the defender highly.

Even so, the player is unlikely to be happy with his lack of match action. Manager Andrea Pirlo has preferred the experienced centre-back partnership of Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci, with Matthijs de Ligt preferred as the first reserve, meaning Demiral has only made six league starts this season.
