REPORT: Arsenal ‘Sent Scouts’ To Watch 6ft 6 Senegalese Colossus In Action

Arsenal are one of several Premier League teams to have “sent scouts” to see Olympiakos centre-back Pape Abou Cisse play in recent weeks, according to the Daily Mail.

Liverpool and Everton have also been keeping tabs on the 6ft 6 defender, who has been impressing playing alongside former Gunner Sokratis Papastathopoulos this campaign.

Cisse actually spent the second half of last season out on loan at Saint-Etienne but the Senegalese international has been in fine form since his return to Greece in the summer.

Olympiakos haven’t lost a game in 90 minutes since the beginning of the campaign, with the Greek Super League champions having conceded just eight goals in 13 matches.

The Mail claims that Liverpool are the team to have shown the most interest in Cisse, but that would be very surprising considering the Reds have five senior centre-backs on their books.

Arsenal on the other hand could do with reinforcing their options in the middle of defence. While Ben White and Gabriel have performed well, the likes of Pablo Mari and Rob Holding have struggled.
