REPORT: Arsenal Secure Deal For Brazilian Ace Ahead Of The Summer Transfer Window

Arsenal have agreed a deal to sign Ituano winger Gabriel Martinelli, according to UOL Esporte.

The Gunners have reportedly beaten off the likes of Cruzeiro, Santos and Flamengo for the 17-year-old, with the forward opting to make the move to the UK.

Martinelli will officially move to the London club in June when the player turns 18. The fact that the teenager has an Italian passport means there is no need for a work permit which could have delayed his move.

The Brazilian was reportedly offered to other Premier League teams but Arsenal were the only English team to firm up their interest with an official offer.

The Gunners have been monitoring Martinelli since February when scouts saw the player in action for Ituano in a 3-2 loss to Palmeiras in the Paulista State Championship.

An €8m offer was reported at the time, but there has been no further confirmation about how much the player will cost.

Martinelli has previously had trials at Manchester United and Barcelona following a youth career that saw him score 73 goals in 138 games for Corinthians.
