REPORT: Arsenal ‘Observing’ Brazilian Star Who Has A 51.4M Release Clause

Arsenal are keeping tabs on Porto winger Pepe, according to Portuguese tabloid A BOLA.

The Brazilian has effectively replaced Luis Diaz on the left flank, since the Colombian made the January move to Liverpool, and the Gunners are said to be “observing” the 25-year-old ahead of a potential summer bid.

Pepe only arrived from Gremio last summer but he does have a €60m (£51.4m) release clause which would make a deal easier to negotiate.

However, there are some big questions about the credibility of this report from A BOLA. They claim that Pepe would be a replacement for Gabriel Martinelli who could make the switch to Atletico Madrid.

No other news outlet has mentioned Martinelli’s potential exit so you do have to ask whether Arsenal’s interest in Pepe is actually genuine. The winger’s performances for Porto have been rather average too, having scored six goals and provided five assists in 40 appearances so far this campaign.
