Arsenal have opened a dialogue with Red Bull Salzburg midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai, according to the Gazzetta Dello Sport.
The Italian newspaper claims the Gunners remain keen on the Hungarian international, who has had an excellent start to the season, having scored five goals and provided nine assists in just 13 appearances.
Szoboszlai’s performances have also grabbed the attention of a number of Italian teams. Juventus and Napoli are said to have considered making a move for the 20-year-old and AC Milan remain big fans of the player.
Gazzetta reports that the attacking midfielder does have a €25m (£22m) release clause and they say it is surprising that no high profile team has made a move for the Hungarian yet despite impressing for Salzburg, both domestically and in Europe.
Arsenal have been watching Szoboszlai for well over a year and, with manager Mikel Arteta desperately in need of a playmaker, a move for the player could happen in the January transfer window.
