REPORT: Arsenal Have First Option On TWO Roma Stars Following Mkhitaryan Deal

Arsenal have the first option on Roma wingers Cengiz Under and Justin Kluivert after coming to an agreement with the Giallorossi over Henrikh Mkhitaryan, according to Calciomercato.com.

The Armenian international has extended his loan with the Serie A club until the end of the season, but reports in Italy suggest the Gunners will then terminate the player’s contract in order to allow him to stay permanently for next campaign.

Mkhitaryan’s current contract at the Emirates expires in 2021 but Arsenal are very keen to get the midfielder off the wage bill, with the player reportedly earning €5m a year.

As a ‘thank you’ for allowing the 31-year-old to move on a free transfer, Calciomercato claim the Gunners will get the chance to sign Cengiz or Kluivert first if either player is put up for sale when the next transfer window opens.

There had previously been talk about a swap deal involving Mkhitaryan and Kluivert but it is thought an agreement was not reached due to Roma’s valuation of the Dutchman.
