REPORT: Arsenal Expected To Make Bid For 12M Rated Championship Starlet ‘This Month’

Arsenal and Tottenham could both make offers for Middlesbrough right-back Djed Spence “this month”, according to the Evening Standard.

The 21-year-old is currently on loan at Nottingham Forest and he impressed against the Gunners as the Championship side pulled off a shock in the FA Cup.

Manager Mikel Arteta is keen on signing a backup for Takehiro Tomiyasu, with both Calum Chambers and Cedric Soares expected to leave in the summer.

Boro are likely to demand around £12m for Spence but the fullback would not move to the Emirates in the January transfer window, even if he does agree to the switch.

Rules dictate that players can’t play for more than two clubs in a single season and, with Spence having already featured for both Middlesbrough and Forest, a summer deal could be finalised in advance.

The youngster would, therefore, remain with Forest until the end of the campaign before joining up with his new teammates at London Colney for preseason.
